- ➤ Kissimmee Police Department started its Explorers program to help local youth learn law enforcement skills through hands-on training and community service. - ➤ Robin Severance Lopez, the estranged wife of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, was released on a $400,000 bond after two weeks in protective custody on charges of conspiracy to use or invest proceeds from racketeering linked to an alleged illegal gambling operation, and her attorney said she is now preparing for a lengthy legal fight. - ➤ City officials said Kissimmee is growing its economy with new projects and investments, including a Hyatt Studios hotel that broke ground Monday at the Kissimmee Gateway Airport — for flight students and travelers — as part of its Ready, Connected and Open for Business strategy. Downtown plans include a $150 million Civic Center redevelopment — with a new convention center and hotel — a lakefront mixed-use district due by late 2026 and a $1 million expansion of business support to spur future growth. - ➤ The Osceola County School District kept its B grade after the Florida Department of Education report showed 23 schools earned an A rating—nearly double last year's 12 A ratings, with 20 schools receiving a B.
