Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 12th of November.
Good morning, Kissimmee.
🏘️ Community
Salvation Army Majors Roger and DeeAnn Glick (with decades of service) were appointed to lead holiday programs in Orange and Osceola counties and will launch the Angel Tree program on Friday at the Mall at Millenia.
The program will help support over 5,000 children and 1,000 seniors as additional holiday efforts are also planned.
🎭 Culture
Celebration Foundation is hosting the 2025 Holiday Home Tour & Magical Marketplace on December 6 (12 p.m.–7 p.m.) and December 7 (11 a.m.–5 p.m.) in Celebration—inviting visitors to enjoy decorated homes and a special marketplace with holiday décor and unique gifts.
Sponsored by Experience Kissimmee, the event promises a festive weekend of community spirit and holiday magic.
🎓 Education
OUC is asking the community to vote now for student artwork that will appear on the 2026 Water and Energy Conservation Calendars as part of its educational outreach programs—students learned about water protection and energy savings while creating art, and voting ends at 4 p.m. on November 13. The free calendars will be available in early 2026.
Osceola School District is asking parents to review a plan to change school bell schedules because a new Senate bill requires middle schools to start at 8 a.m. and high schools at 8:30 a.m.—the district has four options and may spend over $7.3 million to meet state law.
🏛️ Government
Yesterday, November 11, community leaders in Kissimmee held Veterans Day ceremonies to thank veterans for serving in the U.S. Armed Forces—honoring their courage and recalling the holiday's origins in Armistice Day.
The event also noted its federal expansion under President Eisenhower.
