- ➤ SeaWorld Orlando will honor U.S. veterans and active-duty service members during its Veterans Appreciation Celebration from November 7—11 by offering patriotic tributes, nightly fireworks at 7 p.m., and special admission discounts for those with valid military ID — guests from Osceola County and nearby areas may join in regular park activities along with the celebration. - ➤ Today, the Boo on Broadway event drew thousands to enjoy Halloween fun and show community policing—Chief Charles Broadway said a $750k grant from the Department of Justice will fund six new officer spots to boost safety as Kissimmee grows. The expansion will increase the department’s total to 12 officers to help manage large crowds. WESH
- ➤ The Osceola County Veterans Service Office is hosting a veteran employment resource event on Nov. 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its office on Vine Street in a plaza just east of Oak Street, where veterans will hear presentations from local employers and Valencia College; the Orlando VA Healthcare System is also set to expand support programs and increase disability benefit payments by 2.5% effective Oct. 31st. - ➤ Medical marijuana is legal for patients in Florida, but driving after using it remains against the law in Osceola County. - ➤ Neutrogena issued a recall for 1,312 cases of its Ultra-Soft Cleansing Towelettes after tests detected pluralibacter gergoviae, a bacterium that may cause infections in vulnerable people—products were distributed in Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
