  • Poinciana is hosting several community events this fall with a safe Trick or Treat at Poinciana High School on Oct. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for kids 12 and under, a Spooky Spectacular at the Poinciana Library from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and a Pumpkin Recycling program running at the library from Oct. 29 to Nov. 10—additional events include a senior Health Fair on Oct. 24 at the Anthony DePalma Center, a Medicare fair, a food pantry distribution and a Prescription Take Back Day on Oct. 25, plus the Solivita Fall Festival on Nov. 1 featuring crafts, live music and vendors.  Around Osceola
  • Harbor House of Central Florida CEO Michelle Sperzel joined WESH 2 to explain that the nonprofit is expanding long-term transitional housing at Our Grove for domestic violence survivors and their families—providing secure, pet-friendly housing for 12 to 24 months; Phase One is funded and underway while funds for Phase Two, which will add a second 8-unit apartment building, community spaces and enhanced security features, are being raised.  WESH
  • The Pumpkin Patch Makers Market is now open out front of Violet’s Garage — 413 Broadway — where locals can pick pumpkins and shop with local vendors to celebrate fall. It runs Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Around Osceola
  • NeoCity hosted the inaugural Rotary Club of Kissimmee West Rise & Run 5K that raised funds for Help Now Osceola and End Polio Now. Ben Smith, Johnny Viloria, and Michael Pierson led the male runners while Gabriella Carrion, Karina Statioto, and Beth Jeck finished top as the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office formed the largest team.  Around Osceola

  • Gov. DeSantis announced in Sarasota that Progressive will rebate about $300 to its 2.7 million auto policyholders—rebates expected to total roughly $1 billion—after state reforms aimed at reducing litigation costs provide extra savings to drivers.   • Kissimmee city leaders approved a new grant to help homeowners in the Downtown CRA along Vine Street repair their homes. The program will offer up to $5,000 in reimbursable funds from a $50,000 trust fund and the application portal will open in a few weeks.  Spectrum News 13

  • St. Cloud senior Ethan Parish shot 4-under 68 on Tuesday to win the boys' Orange Belt Conference championship at Royal St. Cloud — the team set a new county record with a six-under 288 score as five golfers finished at par or better. The girls team won their ninth straight crown on Monday with a team score of 314 and will face state tournaments next week.  Positively Osceola
