GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Osceola County leaders said the county is building for tomorrow with billions in construction — including road widening projects, new fire stations, and a flood warning system designed to protect residents during big storms. They noted that the 450,000 residents today could grow to 700,000 by 2050 — and plans also include a $17.5 million lab and new educational libraries.  Around Osceola
  • On Friday morning in Osceola County, students competed in the Build-a-Bill contest as they presented proposals on mental health, hospital bills, and safer school spaces to community leaders. State Rep. Paula Stark reviewed the ideas—some calling for clear trash bags to curb illegal dumping and reward-based school break times—and will take the winning bill to Tallahassee in January.  ClickOrlando
