  • The Salvation Army’s Pathway to Housing program helped the Quiceno family become homeowners in Osceola County, and HCA Florida Osceola Hospital earned an American Heart Association award for stroke care — showing strong support and quality treatment.   • Beverly Hougland, a long-time leader of the Osceola Council on Aging, passed away peacefully on September 25 at age 82 and was remembered by family, friends, and community members at a celebration of life—held at the Council's meeting hall—as a tribute to her decades of service.   • Last week, the School District of Osceola County held a Career and Technical Education Advisory Council meeting where teachers met with 40 to 50 business and industry partners—like Disney—to learn what skills are needed for updated training and certification programs.   • Today, Kissimmee firefighters use the new Phoenix G2 alert system to view automated call details on screens before entering their vehicles – the system sends distinct tones and LED signals to reduce turn-out times for emergencies.  Around Osceola
  • Osceola County Chairwoman Viviana Janer gave the State of the County address on Wednesday and shared a plan called 'Building for Tomorrow, Today' that shows how the county will grow with new roads — transit studies, affordable housing, and stronger public safety. She said plans include a $17.5 million lab at NeoCity and a $225 million arts center to help serve more than 700,000 people by 2050.  Positively Osceola
  • Effective today, downtown Kissimmee businesses in the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area must get a special city permit to serve alcohol past midnight and operate until 2 a.m. The new rule, part of Ordinance #25-09 approved in July at an annual fee of $250, will be enforced by Kissimmee Police—permits may be suspended if safety issues arise.  Positively Osceola
  • The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has welcomed a therapy dog named Echo—who will ease stress for 911 dispatchers—to its communications center.   • Mental Illness Awareness Week is being observed as local programs offer depression screenings and educational sessions to help residents understand mental health resources.
