- ➤ Vineland Lakes High School, a tuition-free charter school offering an accelerated program for students behind on credits, opened its new permanent building and held a grand opening event Tuesday at 10 a.m. It offers individualized courses in core subjects and technical education options to help students catch up on credits. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kissimmee's fire department unveiled its fifth engine today at a traditional ceremony and announced it will assign 12 new firefighters to the engine, with more hires coming by the end of October. Fire Chief Jim Walls said the engine will improve response times — boosting emergency support as the community grows. WESH
- ➤ Starting today, downtown Kissimmee businesses must have a special permit to serve alcohol until 2 a.m as approved by commissioners who voted 5—0 in July.
