- ➤ TD 9 is moving away from Cuba and is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane later today and into Tuesday—bringing gusty winds, heavy rain along the coast, and rough surf later in the week. Inland areas are expected to see breezy winds with 1 to 3 inches of rain while coastal spots might experience tropical storm force gusts. WESH
- ➤ Tropical Storm Imelda is forming and may bring tropical storm conditions to the Florida coast—officials urge residents to prepare emergency hurricane kits and follow local advisories as warmer ocean temperatures and low wind shear could add hazards. - ➤ St. Cloud Fire Rescue received a $9.5 million SAFER grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and will hire 48 additional firefighters to improve emergency response along Clay Whaley Road, Kissimmee Park Road and in Tohoqua—the largest grant of its kind in the city.
