  • The School District of Osceola County has scheduled commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2026 between May 18 and June 24, while county officials celebrated the recent ribbon cutting of Pinnacle at the Wesleyan, a new 96-unit affordable housing community near Hoagland Boulevard with units available for occupancy in 2025. An online address tool developed by the Four Corners Task Force will help residents find county services, and St. Cloud Parks and Rec earned four awards for event marketing as Nemours Children’s Health named Dr. Robert Snyder as Chief of Florida Primary Care to oversee 19 clinics.  Around Osceola

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Osceola Prosper program, launched in 2022, offers free associate degrees and technical training to local high school graduates and helped 1,100 students earn their degrees while lifting the county’s college-going rate to third in the state. The county commission approved $10.4 million on Sept.15 to fund Phase Four of the program—supporting students balancing work and family as they pursue higher education.  Spectrum News 13

  • Veterans are warned about scammers who use fake VA letters, phone calls, and texts to demand quick payment for alleged overpayments + their messages mimic official VA communications. The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows veteran unemployment is low while the Orlando VA Home-Based Primary Care program, serving veterans in Osceola, cuts emergency room visits and hospitalizations.  Around Osceola

  • With school in session, parents in Kissimmee are on alert for head lice that can cause itching and discomfort—experts say FDA-approved treatments work well and that children can stay in class while treatment begins.   • The B.A.S.S. pro fishing tour said it will open its Open series 2026 schedule on the Kissimmee chain with the High School/Junior series on January 18, the College series on January 22 to 23, and Division 1 events on January 29 to 31 at Lake Tohopekaliga—events that will help competitors move to higher tournaments like the Nitro Boats Bassmaster Elite Qualifier Series later in the season—providing a new step for rising pros.  Around Osceola
