  • City officials in Kissimmee are holding a public meeting at 5 p.m. tonight at City Hall—gathering input on a plan to revitalize a corridor along Vine Street that stretches for five miles with new green spaces, housing and local businesses. The long-range redevelopment using private investment incentives is projected to be completed by 2042.  ClickOrlando

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 32-year-old theme park enthusiast died on the Stardust Racers roller coaster at Epic Universe after he was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the hospital—funeral services will be held Friday at San Juan Funeral Home in Kissimmee.  WESH

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Starting next week, September 30, Florida will raise its minimum wage to $14 per hour for non-tipped workers and about $10.98 for tipped workers—this plan, approved by voters in 2020, will gradually reach $15 per hour by 2026.  Positively Osceola

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Two systems in the Atlantic are likely to develop into tropical depressions and may interact through the Fujiwhara effect—where a stronger storm may absorb a weaker one or merge if both have similar strength. The National Hurricane Center and meteorologist Eric Burris note that models show the effect may occur, but it is too soon to tell what will happen.  WESH
