Good morning, Kissimmee.

Valencia College and the Florida Blue Foundation launched the V-Centials food market at its Osceola Campus today to offer free healthy food and hygiene items to students facing rising costs and other challenges.

The partners also announced $3 million in grants to be shared among eight nonprofits statewide, including two in Central Florida.

Osceola County is harvesting invasive vegetation from Lake Toho to clear about 160 acres and improve water quality, reduce flooding, and help native wildlife.

The $2.2 million project is being completed in phases — the first phase is underway and set to finish by year-end while it is funded by both state and county sources.

Bill Litton, director of Osceola’s Emergency Operations Center, shared safety updates and emergency tips with the Osceola Chamber’s Tourism Coalition last week at the county EOC — the tour highlighted power backup, drone use, and rapid alert communication systems to protect residents and guests — as the coalition prepares for hurricane season.

Week Five of high school football in Osceola County brings a major game in Orlando as Osceola faces Jones—a top team known for strong state performances—and additional 7 p.m. contests test Harmony, Tohopekaliga, and St. Cloud as they build on recent wins.
