  • Victory Cup Initiative is expanding its program to help Osceola County nonprofits by hosting a Shark Tank style event that will offer funding, partnerships and support to groups facing housing and food challenges. The program accepts applications (Sept. 2 to 22), provides mandatory trainings from November through February and will conclude with the Storytelling Showcase Breakfast on Feb. 24 at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.  Around Osceola
  • City officials in Kissimmee held a ceremony Thursday to start Phase 2-A and 2-B of renovating The Haven on Vine into safe and affordable housing. In August the city approved up to $2 million to convert 40 apartments, improve infrastructure, and turn a storage facility into a new office — the project will eventually include 123 renovated apartments and emergency housing units.  Spectrum News 13
  • Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee will host its 'Cheers To You' fall fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Universal CityWalk—ticket holders will enjoy a reception with a Desert Party in Hogsmeade and after-hours access to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.   • A 37-year-old man from Orlando was shot outside a Kissimmee hotel early Wednesday and died at the scene; on Thursday evening, deputies caught 33-year-old Shahzaib Ahmed Khan in Orange County's Tangelo Park neighborhood—he now faces a murder with a firearm charge.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • 2025 Miss Florida, Paris Richardson, appeared on WESH 2 yesterday—sharing her goals and her work promoting health equity as she prepares for the Miss America 2026 pageant in Orlando.   • The National Institutes of Health and National Institute on Aging observe Healthy Aging Month this September to help residents learn simple steps for a healthier life.
