- ➤ Central Florida school districts released the 2025-2026 calendars with most classes starting on Aug. 11 while Sumter County begins on Aug. 13 & the calendars list holidays, early release days, and severe weather makeup days to help families plan ahead. Spectrum News 13
- ➤ Osceola High student Melinee Patayya is spending her summer working at Addition Financial’s Kissimmee branch where she handles real transactions under professional supervision. - ➤ For eight years, biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have restored Lake Kissimmee—planting hundreds of thousands of trees and grasses to boost native apple snails that feed 2,000 endangered Everglades Snail Kites. They will review next steps next year to keep the lake healthy as water levels rise. Spectrum News 13
