ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • All westbound lanes of I-4 at World Drive in Kissimmee were blocked after an early morning crash on July 16 that injured people (according to the Florida Highway Patrol) and drivers were advised to take alternate routes (while authorities investigated the scene).  FOX 35 Orlando

CRIME NEWS

  • Early Sunday, 31-year-old Derik Bonet Rodriguez died in Kissimmee after Osceola deputies Tasered and handcuffed him when he ran in and out of traffic; officers later pronounced him dead at a local hospital. His family now demands answers as they call for release of the autopsy report & body camera footage and plan a funeral on Sunday in Puerto Rico.  ClickOrlando
  • On June 12, Osceola County deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Loop Smoke Shop on John Young Parkway at about 9:16 p.m.; a Hispanic male suspect — seen wearing a green ski mask, brown jacket, white long pants, and white Nike sneakers with a red swoosh — brandished a knife and fled on foot.  WESH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Osceola County Manager Don Fisher presented a recommended FY26 budget on Monday that keeps the General Fund millage rate at 6.7 mills for 15 consecutive years—supporting major investments in public safety, transportation, and natural space protection. Residents will give input at the first public hearing on September 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Chambers.  Positively Osceola
  • City leaders approved a rule that lets downtown bars sell alcohol after midnight if they get a $250 permit starting Oct. 1 — a change aimed at maintaining safety and order. They also approved parts of a noise ordinance that issues a warning for first offenses and a fine for second offenses while further limits will be discussed on Aug. 5.  Around Osceola
