- ➤ St. Cloud police chief Douglas Goerke warned that discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a home is a criminal act after a New Year's Day incident in Kissimmee killed Carmen Rosa Neira Ochoa as she watched fireworks; he said his team will use every resource to track down those who fire guns for fun—this warning comes as police prepare for this year's celebrations. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Osceola County is addressing traffic problems by working on many road projects that began over a year ago and are set to finish by 2027 to handle a projected 55% growth by 2045; projects include widening Simpson Road to four lanes and fixing delays on County Road 532 (with construction planned to start early 2026). In Kissimmee, improvements at West Oak Street and John Young Parkway are underway to add a through lane, a new right turn lane, sidewalks, and drainage for about 50,000 daily drivers. WESH
