  • Osceola County hosted the 2025 Community Resource Network Event on June 25 at the Housing and Community Services building at 1392 E. Vine Street in Kissimmee. District 4 Commissioner Cheryl Grieb led the free event that linked residents to services such as Housing and Community Services, Veterans Services, the Florida Department of Health, and Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida + featured raffles and giveaways.  Positively Osceola

  • A comprehensive plan released yesterday by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District outlines potential expansion for Walt Disney World in Orlando—detailing one major park and two smaller parks, plus hotels, a golf course, and more over the next 20 years—though no confirmed plans exist for a new park. The plan also earmarks over 2600 acres for future development and highlights major projects at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.  WESH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Early Learning Coalition of Osceola County launched its More Than campaign to connect families with free Voluntary Prekindergarten and School Readiness programs offered by over 140 providers—these programs aim to build a strong educational foundation for young children. Educators in Kissimmee report that the initiative is helping kids develop skills beyond the ABCs and 123s, with some already reading at a first-grade level.  Positively Osceola

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced it will launch a $2.35 million project to restore native aquatic plants in and around Lake Kissimmee over the next two years. The effort will improve water quality and wildlife habitat — including for endangered Everglade snail kites and sport fishing.  ClickOrlando

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • FDOT will hold a public hearing today at 5:30 p.m. at Miracle Springs Church — on South Orange Blossom Trail in Intercession City — to discuss widening U.S. 17-92 from Ivy Mist Lane to Avenue A to ease heavy traffic. If the project moves forward, design work will start in 2027 and two homes will be relocated as FDOT seeks funding for right-of-way and construction.  Spectrum News 13
