CRIME NEWS

  • Robin Severance-Lopez—a former deputy and estranged wife of Sheriff Marcos Lopez—was arrested Monday on charges of conspiracy to invest proceeds from racketeering in an illegal gambling operation and faces a $400,000 bond with conditions including GPS monitoring and no contact with her husband.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • Kissimmee casino owner Krishna Deokaran was named as a co-conspirator in a racketeering case against suspended sheriff Marcos Lopez during a June 6 court appearance while court records and text messages link him to the Eclipse Social Club illegal gambling operation that was raided and shut down in August 2024 + a civil forfeiture complaint alleged cash from slot machines was collected at 4561 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.  WESH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Cloud Fire Rescue’s cadet program, started in 2019, mentors teens ages 14 to 21 with classroom training, drills, and ride-alongs to prepare them for roles as firefighters and first responders — nine former cadets have been hired permanently. Enrollment for next year’s program will begin in August to help meet the department’s growing staffing needs.  Spectrum News 13

  • Orlando Health has opened a new lung and sleep medicine clinic at its Medical Pavilion — St. Cloud to bring specialized care closer to Osceola County residents.   • Millions of Americans face dangerous heat waves this week and residents in Kissimmee are advised to prepare their homes by installing and maintaining air conditioners and sealing windows to block hot air.
