  • The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run on Florida Parkway, south of Birchwood Circle, that struck a 40-year-old Kissimmee woman early Wednesday morning + the roadway remains shut as investigators work the scene.  Positively Osceola
  • Suspended Sheriff Marcos Lopez has been in jail for a week due to an alleged illegal gambling ring at a Kissimmee nightclub while the state asked a judge to cancel co-defendant Sharon Fedrick’s bond—her past as a fugitive makes her a flight risk—with three of the four other defendants already released.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Florida’s hurricane season runs until November 30, and Toho Water Authority has advised residents to store enough water for drinking and cleaning—at least one gallon per person per day for three days—and to follow boil water instructions if there is a disruption in service.  Around Osceola

  • Since 2017, Sheriff Marcos Lopez has been under close watch at the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in Kissimmee—his record includes a 2022 deputy-involved shooting near Target and a controversial social media post on March 2 that led to a $250 fine. The State Attorney’s Office placed him on the Brady List in January over doubts about his truthfulness, and Lopez said the move is politically unfair while he plans to appeal.  Around Osceola

  • During skin cancer awareness month, Florida doctors warn that the strong summer sun can raise the risk of skin cancer and advise regular skin exams to catch the disease early—Dr. Luis A. Jaramillo at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital said early detection saves lives.
