GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today the Kissimmee Fire Department will switch to a 24/72 shift schedule that gives firefighters an extra day off and cuts their average workweek from 56 to 42 hours while the department hires 49 new firefighters. City officials approved a yearly fire assessment that charges property owners a base fee of $105 plus 56 cents for every $1,000 in improvements starting fiscal year Oct.1 to fund the changes.
