Kissimmee Police Chief Charles 'Chuck' Broadway — a 52-year-old Long Island native with decades of law enforcement experience — took command after the department faced public scrutiny and an investigation into past cases began; he said he will review the findings when the report is returned by the Orange County Sheriff's Office. He plans to start a Citizen's Police Academy in the fall and add a drone program and improved camera-data integration to help fight crime in Kissimmee.

Kissimmee residents Tanya and Grace Walter saved Robert Walter on April 25 by doing CPR, which started the chain of survival and led him to eight days of hospital care at HCA Hospital.

The Fire Department honored all responders on Tuesday morning—recognizing the quick action of family and emergency crews.
