  • Give Kids The World Village named Caroline Schumacher as its next president and chief executive officer and she will return in June after nearly two decades of service to lead the nonprofit—continuing a legacy of compassionate leadership.   • St. Cloud nurse Nia Ayers, 24, turned herself in on May 7 after home surveillance footage showed her repeatedly shaking and pinching an 18-year-old disabled woman with cerebral palsy, and she is now held without bond at Osceola County jail (the victim's injuries were first noticed by her mother on May 3).  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Momo Sutton — a senior at Osceola School for the Arts and a nationally-ranked Paralympic swimmer — had her poem 'In Christina’s Wake' published in the 13th annual anthology INSPIRED by local nonprofit Page 15.   • Last week, NUC University Florida Technical College opened its new School of Nursing at its Kissimmee campus to help ease the growing healthcare gap in the region. The program features a simulation lab + a nursing skills lab + a pharmacology lab and was supported by local leaders including the mayor, who declared April 24 as NUC University School of Nursing Day to honor 40 years of community service.  Around Osceola

  • District 3 Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington purchased livestock raised by 4‑H student exhibitors at this year's fair using Betterment Grant funds (including students Jenna, Josie, and Michaela) and donated the processed meat to local groups (Osceola Council on Aging and St. Rose of Lima Church) to support families and seniors.  Positively Osceola
