Good morning, Kissimmee.

On Tuesday — at Lake Kissimee State Park — a woman in a canoe was attacked by an alligator and her body was recovered; Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and Polk County Sheriff's Office responded with a helicopter and a marine unit.

Techtonic partnered with Osceola County Schools to offer technology repair workshops that help neurodivergent adults and those with autism learn to fix phones, tablets and computers.

The program now gives participants a chance to secure steady work in Central Florida — filling a need for skilled technicians.

Kissimmee’s new police chief—Charles Broadway—was sworn in on April 1 and met residents Wednesday night at Chambers Park Community Center where Vice Mayor Angela Eady hosted a Q&A session.

He plans to build trust by launching a Citizens Police Academy on Sept. 3 and releasing an annual report on use of force, crime statistics, and internal affairs starting next year to boost accountability after the previous chief resigned following a misconduct scandal.
